What is Green Waste?

Green waste includes grass clippings, tree trimmings and shrubs and palm fronds. Please do not use plastic bags.

When Will Green Waste be Collected?

Immediately following the delivery of your automated carts, customers can use their old smaller cans for green waste. Trimmings need to be tied and bundled with be no longer than 4 feet in length.

Twigs & Small Branches

All materials must be placed in the can provided. Plastic bags are not acceptable.

Concrete
Animal Waste

Why Should I Participate in Green Waste Recycling?

Your recycle green waste will be transported to a processing facility located in the Coachella Valley. Not only will this diverted waste be credited to Desert Hot Springs goal of recycling 50% of their waste, but the green waste will be transformed into a soil amendment that can be applied back into the ground. These soil amendments retain moisture and therefore reduce your water usage.

What About Cactus?

WARNING. Cactus won't be collected with your green waste. Cactus must be placed in your gray trash cart. The loose stickers from the cactus can cause harm to our drivers by blowing onto their skin or eyes. We appreciate your cooperation.

GREEN WASTE TIPS
Cut up trimmings to increase the amount of yard waste that fits in the can.

Place a sheet of newspaper in the bottom of the can to keep grass from sticking.

DO NOT put green waste in plastic bags.
